Linear theory of hyper-Raman stimulated scattering of short optical pulses

Abstract: An analysis is made of the amplification of a weak Stokes signal by a two-photon coherent pulse in a resonant medium. Expressions are derived for the gains. The parameters of the medium and the pump pulse ensuring that the Stokes wave is trapped are determined.
