Wandering laser beam in a turbulent atmosphere. I. Distribution of the probability density of the fluctuation power

Full-text PDF (534 kB) Citations (2)
Abstract: Expressions are obtained for the distribution of the probability and moments of the distribution of intensity fluctuations in the case of wandering of a laser beam which itself exhibits log-normal fluctuations. The nature of the distribution and the values of the moments depend on two parameters: one represents the strength of log-normal fluctuations and the other the strength of fluctuations resulting from wandering of the beam.
