Optical signal with high-frequency amplitude beats formed in a frequencymodulated injection laser and an interferometer

A. G. Plyavenek, I. A. Rachkov, S. D. Yakubovich
Abstract: A generator of an optical signal with amplitude beats tunable within the frequency range 0.1– 6.0 GHz was constructed on the basis of a homodyne system containing a single-frequency injection laser frequency-modulated by a regular sequence of rectangular current pulses and a Mach-Zehnder interferometer with an optical difference between the arms ensuring a delay of the modulating signal by half a period.
