Abstract: Excitation of the OsO4 molecule with relatively weak ultraviolet laser radiation (~0.5J/cm2) resulted in preferential formation of the atomic Os+ ions. The process should be useful in the determination of the isotopic selectivity of multiphoton infrared excitation.
