Self-induced distributed feedback under stimulated Brillouin scattering conditions

N. N. Zhukov, O. P. Zaskal'ko, V. V. Kuz'min
Abstract: It was found experimentally that 90° stimulated Brillouin scattering (STBS) with decay of the pump wave into two opposite Stokes waves may have features similar to those observed in stimulated Raman scattering and can differ qualitatively from stimulated Brillouin backscattering. These features are attributed to a self-induced distributed feedback that occurs between the opposite Stokes waves in 90° STBS.
