Influence of microinclusions in glasses on the operation of optical systems transforming laser beams

Abstract: An analysis is made of the influence of microinclusions on the normalized intensity at a diffraction focus (Strehl number) of an optical system made of glass. It is shown that large microinclusions reduce the Strehl number by no more than 10%.
