Nonlinear optical effects and devices

Transverse optical bistability under conditions of self-defocusing of opposed beams in a nonlinear medium

A. A. Borsch, M. S. Brodin, V. P. Lukomskiĭ, V. N. Semioshko
Abstract: A method is proposed for the development of transverse nonresonator optical bistability under conditions of self-defocusing of opposed optical beams in a nonlinear medium. This method was used as the basis to develop a bistable cell. A theoretical analysis was made of transverse optical bistability so that the parameters of the proposed bistable cell could be optimized.
