Generation of the second harmonic of optical radiation in a matched Fabry–Perot resonator

Abstract:
A theoretical analysis is made of the generation of the second harmonic of optical radiation in an open resonator. A study is made of the conditions for the maximum transfer of power to the second harmonic in the presence of linear energy losses in the resonator and equivalent losses due to the conversion of energy into the second harmonic. It is shown that, depending on the linear losses and the power of incident radiation, one can find the optimal value of the reflection coefficient of the mirrors at the wavelength of the fundamental-frequency radiation.
