Abstract: An investigation was made of the frequency dependence of energy conversion by parametric oscillation and amplification in a KDP crystal. The oscillator-amplifier system was pumped by picosecond second-harmonic pulses from a YAG:Nd laser. It was found theoretically and experimentally that the maximum energy conversion is achieved away from the degenerate regime.
