Laser with an active medium in the form of a colloidal solution
A. N. Kolerov
Abstract:
It is shown that stimulated emission may be obtained from an active medium in the form of a colloidal solution consisting of a mixture of an alcohol solution of a dye and fine lithium fluoride particles containing color centers. Lasing was observed simultaneously for both components of the mixture under flashlamp and laser excitation. Experimental observations were made of the changes in the kinetics of the output pulses of solid-state lasers when a cell containing a two-phase mixture of alcohol and lithium fluoride particles incorporating color centers was inserted in the resonator. An estimate was made of the scattering effect of the particles on the total losses in the laser for different particle sizes and concentrations.
