Abstract:
The energy characteristics and the divergence of radiation from an XeCl laser with plane mirrors were calculated in the transfer equation approximation, taking into account parasitic amplification of spontaneous radiation. An investigation was made of the dependence of the lasing characteristics on the aperture and on the coefficient of reflection by the mirrors and by the walls of the active medium. The same approximations were used to calculate the characteristics of single- and double-pass XeCl and KrF amplifiers (including a telescopic system). The influence of the amplified spontaneous radiation on the efficiency of these amplifiers was studied for systems with fairly large apertures.
