Abstract:
The dependence of the polarization characteristics of waveguides on the width of the propagating radiation spectrum was investigated for fibers exhibiting weak (δn = 4 × 10 –8) and strong (δn = 1.45 × 10 –4) birefringence. The influence of the optical activity in the fiber waveguides was demonstrated for wide-band polarized radiation. It was also found that radiation could become completely depolarized in single-mode fiber waveguides.
