Efficiency of laser heating of particles dispersed in a gas stream
V. I. Igoshin, S. Yu. Pichugin
Abstract:
An analysis is made of the efficiency of heating of disperse particles moving with a gas stream parallel to a laser beam. It is shown that when fairly high-intensity (~10 kW/cm2) cw CO2 laser radiation is used, the efficiency of heating of strongly absorbing particles reaches ~40%. This suggests that laser radiation may be used to heat particles in various technological processes.
