Unstable cavity with a diffraction grating

Abstract:
It is shown that a considerable (by a factor of hundreds) increase of the mode spacing is possible in wide-aperture unstable laser cavities with a diffraction grating. This result is attained by a special selection of the cavity parameters and it is unrelated to the vignetting caused by a change in the direction of the optic axis, typical of small-aperture diffraction cavities.
