Integral and Fiber Optics

Calculation and measurement of waveguide characteristics of single-mode fiber waveguides with a depressed cladding

A. V. Belov, A. S. Kurkov, A. V. Chikolini
Abstract: A method was developed for calculating the effective cutoff length, the size of a mode spot, and the chromatic dispersion over the profile of the refractive index (measured in the preform stage) of single-mode fiber waveguides with a depressed cladding. The results of such calculations are shown to agree with the results of measurements of these quantities.
