Stimulated emission of radiation by colored polymers pumped by an XeCl excimer laser

Abstract:
A polyvinyl acetate matrix activated with laser dyes pumped by an XeCI excimer laser was used for the first time for the stimulated emission of radiation. It was found that transverse pumping was preferable to longitudinal since the laser service life was increased by more than an order of magnitude.
