Generation of 5-psec duration by fast optoelectronic switches

A fast optoelectronic GaAs switch with a partly screened gap between contacts was developed. Light pulses of 5-psec duration were used to generate electrical pulses of the same duration and of voltage of the order of 0.3 of the applied voltage.
