Abstract:
Enhancement of the output energy and efficiency of an electron-beam-controlled CO laser emitting submicrosecond pulses by generating a series of laser pulses was demonstrated experimentally. A doubling of the efficiency of a Q-switched CO laser was achieved by generating double pulses. It was possible to form a series of short high-power pulses having an energy and efficiency close to those in the free-lasing regime.
