Scattering of monochromatic radiation by a moving polydisperse water aerosol evaporating on exposure to radiation

A. V. Bruskov, M. I. Ivashchenko, V. P. Panov
Abstract: A numerical analysis is made of the scattering of cw monochromatic radiation by a moving polydisperse water aerosol that evaporates on exposure to the radiation. It is established that if certain conditions are satisfied, the power of the radiation scattered in a specific direction is almost independent of the beam power, i.e., the nonlinear medium "stabilizes" the scattered radiation. This is because any change in the beam power is compensated by a corresponding change in the scattering properties of the aerosol medium.
