Brief Communications

Transient self-diffraction of differently tilted beams

A. V. Mamaev, K. Orazov, N. F. Pilipetskiĭ, V. V. Shkunov
Abstract: A theoretical determination is reported of the dependences of the direction and efficiency of transient transfer of energy in a two-beam system in a medium with a cumulative nonlinear response on the ratio of the beam intensities, interaction geometry, beam structure, and behavior of the frequency-contrast characteristic of the medium. It is shown experimentally that energy transfer is affected by the difference between the angles of incidence of the interacting beams. Energy transfer in the anomalous direction (from the weak to the strong beam) is reported.
