Instability of a ring resonator with a nonlinear gyrotropic medium in the presence of spatially inhomogeneous arbitrarily polarized perturbations

Abstract:
A theoretical derivation is given of the condition of stability of steady states of the field in a ring resonator with an isotropic nonlinear gyrotropic medium in the presence of an arbitrarily polarized perturbation of a given size. It is shown that it is possible to find the parameters of the polarization of light exciting the resonator which ensure the maximum number of stable steady states of the field in the required range of the intensities of the transmitted radiation.
