Abstract: Photoinduced scattering of light and low-intensity Rayleigh scattering in LiTaO3:Cr were observed. The photoinduced scattering was isotropic, indicating that the mechanism of recording of a noise holographic grating in a crystal was not related to the bulk photovoltaic effect or diffusion. Crystals of LiTaO3:Cr exhibited a strong photorefractive sensitivity amounting to 4×10–5cm3/J.
