Polarization of radiation from pulsed multifrequency lasers with isotropic resonators

M. V. Arkhipov, S. V. Pavlov, N. S. Ryazanov
Abstract: Calculations are made of the elements of the coherence matrix of radiation generated by a multifrequency laser with an isotropic resonator. The light statistics are used to show that the polarization state of the output radiation fluctuates from one pulse to another and that the average degree of polarization is inversely proportional to the square root of the number of frequencies emitted by the laser. The results of these theoretical calculations agree with the experimental results.
