Abstract:
A system of equations is derived for the parameters of ultrashort light pulses generated in a solid-state ring laser with periodic loss modulation. An allowance is made for the coupling between opposite ultrashort pulses as a result of backscattering in the modulator. The regime of locking of the frequencies of the opposite waves is considered. It is shown that the coupling between the opposite waves as a result of backscattering by the ends of a modulator suppresses one of these waves when the detuning of the modulation frequency is increased above its optimal value. A study is made of the influence of rotation on the amplitude characteristics of this solid-state laser in the regime of locking of the opposite wave frequencies.
