Interaction of laser radiation with matter

Dynamics of an optical detonation wave in a moving laser beam

Abstract: An investigation was made of optical detonation in a moving pulsed CO2 laser beam. An increase in the beam velocity increased the threshold for support of an optical detonation wave. Equations for the support threshold of an optical detonation wave were solved numerically allowing for additional losses from a plasma as a result of beam motion.
