Continuous-wave lasing of erbium ions in YSGG:Ñã3+, Åã3+ crystals in the 3-μm range at room temperature

Abstract:
An experimental investigation was made of the influence of interaction processes involving excited Er3+ ions on the stimulated emission characteristics of a 3-μm yttrium scandium gallium garnet (YSGG:Ñã3+, Åã3+) crystal laser pumped by a krypton laser. The results are explained using a spectroscopic model of this crystal.
