Nonlinear optics

Switching waves in a complex structure of a semiconductor interferometer with competing nonlinearities

Yu. A. Rzhanov
Abstract: A study is made of the dynamics of formation of switching fronts and of pulses with a complex profile in a multistable semiconductor Fabry–Perot interferometer with the two competing optical nonlinearity mechanisms. The predicted structures can appear in any distributed system with competing nonlinearities and very different characteristic relaxation times.
