Theory of low-threshold optical breakdown in an aerosol

D. I. Zhukhovitskiĭ, I. T. Yakubov
Abstract: A model describing the threshold relationships between the radiation intensity and the concentration and size of aerosol particles is proposed. It is based on the assumption that an electron avalanche appears at the temperature of saturation with a substance evaporated from the particles. Two possible breakdown mechanisms—isobaric and dynamic—are identified.
