Calculation of the gain due to the 4–3 transition in the Al XIII ion in an expanding cylindrical laser plasma generated by ultrashort pump pulses

Abstract: Values of the gain amounting to 5–7 cm – 1 were obtained for the 4–4 transition in the Al XIII ion in a recombining laser plasma which generated ultrashort radiation pulses on the surfaces of thin filaments. The amplification length was limited by the short (~0.1 ns) inversion lifetime.
