Abstract:
The parameters of an electrooptic modulator of traveling microwaves were optimized on the basis of measurements (made at the frequency of 10 GHz) of the electrooptic coefficients and permittivity of LiNbO3 crystals, and also of the coefficient r41 of GaAs. The values obtained were approximately 20% lower than those measured in the megahertz range. The attenuation constant of the modulating field was determined for an asymmetric microwave line at frequencies in the range 7–10 GHz and estimates were obtained of the optimal geometric dimensions of a traveling-wave modulator operating at the frequency of 10 GHz.
