Characteristics of generation of a picosecond continuum in a noncentrosymmetric medium

A. A. Murav'ev
Abstract: An investigation was made of the laws governing the conversion of a single pulse of 9488 cm–1 frequency and 6 psec duration into visible radiation in the continuum range, which took place in basically different media, one of which was isotropic (D2O) and the other noncentrosymmetric (KDP crystal). The continuum formed in KDP was due to the combined influence of stimulated Raman scattering and parametric interaction.
