Investigation of the optical homogeneity of highly transparent solid-state materials by laser calorimetry
V. G. Plotnichenko, V. K. Sysoev, I. G. Firsov
Abstract:
The method of adiabatic laser calorimetry was used to determine changes in the bulk absorption coefficient at the 10.6 μ wavelength measured transversely and along the length of cylindrical highly transparent KRS-6 and Csl single crystals. The increase in the absorption observed along the growth direction of a KRS-6 crystal and in its surface layer was attributed to an increase in the impurity concentration absorbing the 10.6 μ radiation. The experimental heating curves of the investigated samples were analyzed by calculating the temperature distribution employing a locally one-dimensional method of variable directions. The results of the calculations were compared with the experimental data.
