Theory of the interaction of waves in two-mode ring lasers with a controlled phase anisotropy
V. I. Timofeev
Abstract:
The results are given of a theoretical study of the processes of the interaction of electromagnetic waves with quantum systems of two-mode ring lasers when the intermode spacing is varied continuously. Expressions are obtained for the nonlinear interaction coefficients of arbitrarily polarized unidirectional waves in a magnetic field of arbitrary direction and a comparison is made of the new results with those already published. Nonreciprocal polarization effects are considered and the influence of the form of the polarization vectors on the characteristics of the interaction of waves in the specific case of a longitudinal magnetic field is studied. A phase equation is given for unidirectional waves and an analysis is made of the interference effect of narrowing of the "intermode" locking band.
