Two-pulse dye laser with flashlamp excitation

Two-pulse operation was achieved in a high-power organic-dye laser excited by a coaxial flashlamp. The conditions essential for achieving such operation were identified. The minimum interval between the pump pulses, set by the damage to the outer quartz tube of the coaxial flashlamp, was determined.
