Mechanism of short-lived absorption in YAG:Nd crystals

Abstract:
An investigation was made of the mechanism of short-lived absorption in YAG laser crystals exposed to ultraviolet pump radiation. It was found that the short-lived absorption in crystals involves divalent iron ions.
