Characteristics of coherent amplification of short optical pulses in media with a nonresonant polarizability

V. A. Yurevich
Abstract: A calculation is reported of the parameters of amplification of light pulses in crystalline laser media with a nonresonant nonlinear polarizability when the duration of the pulses being amplified is less than the phase relaxation time of the medium. A reduction in the contrast and an increase in the frequency of the nutation substructure of the radiation intensity, and also a shift and asymmetry of the Stark doublet structure in the spectrum of the pulses are predicted.
