Abstract: Preliminary results are reported of the fabrication and measurements of the optical and mechanical properties of infrared single-crystal fiber waveguides made of thallium halides (TlCl, TlBr, KRS5, and KRS6), silver halides (AgCl, AgBr), and alkali halides (KBr, KCl, CsI).
