Influence of heating of the active medium in the process of its excitation on the characteristics of a pulsed electron-beam-controlled CO laser utilizing pure carbon monoxide

Abstract:
A theoretical study is made of the dependence of the lasing characteristics of a pulsed electron-beam-controlled CO laser utilizing pure carbon monoxide on the fraction η of the pump energy used directly to heat the gas. A comparison is made with experimental results. It is shown that an increase in η compared with the value predicted earlier theoretically ensures a good qualitative and quantitative agreement between the calculated and experimental data on the efficiency of this laser, lasing delay, and emission spectrum.
