Thermal conditions in optically pumped molecular lasers

Abstract: The gas temperature on the axis of a cell subjected to continuous optical pumping concentrated in the axial region is calculated for several molecular gases. It is shown that the effects of local overheating of a gas must be allowed for in the construction of optically pumped molecular lasers and in the interpretation of laser-chemical experiments.
