Brief Communications

Feasibility of constructing an absorption cell tuned to λ = 1315 nm

O. B. Danilov, A. P. Zhevlakov, I. L. Yachnev
Abstract: Experiments indicated that the concentration of nonexcited iodine atoms during the pyrolysis stage of the photolysis of perfluoroalkyl iodides could reach (2–5)×1017 cm–3. The velocities of pyrolysis and compression waves were determined in a thick perfluoroalkyl iodide layer. The pyrolysis wave was considerably faster than the compression wave. An analysis was made of the possibility of using a pyrolysis wave to create a medium absorbing at λ = 1315 nm in a flash absorption cell.
