Optimization and stability of a continuously pumped YAG:Nd3+ laser with strong intracavity modulation
P. G. Konvisar, A. A. Fomichev
Abstract:
Rate equations are used to make an analytic investigation of the performance of a continuously pumped YAG:Nd3+ laser with arbitrary intracavity modulation. The laser output energy is optimized and a simple criterion for optimization is given. The stability of the laser operation in various regimes is studied using a method of dynamic-state diagrams. The proposed pulse "truncation" regime increases substantially the range of stable laser operation. In the case of intracavity harmonic generation, a 100% conversion efficiency can be maintained up to frequencies of ~1 MHz. The results of the theoretical calculations are in good agreement with known experimental data.
