Abstract: Stabilization of the output energy and composition of the mixture in a pulse-periodic CO2 laser was achieved by regenerating carbon dioxide with a palladium catalyst. Measurements of the small-signal gain of mixtures with different compositions demonstrated that the reduction in the gain on dissociation of CO2 was due to a reduction in the CO2 concentration and an increase in the concentrations of CO and O2.
