Abstract: A theoretical and experimental investigation was made of the mechanism of formation of a lengthened train of pulses in a garnet laser. A comparison of the theoretical and experimental results indicated that the mechanism in question was associated with the absorption by free carriers when the laser cavity with hybrid mode locking contained a negative-feedback component in the form of GaAs.
