Abstract:
The coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) method was used for the first time in the visible range to resolve the structure of a Raman band due to the scattering by valence vibrations by liquid water at 21°C. An automated spectrometer with a resolution of 0.5 cm–1 was based on a YAG:Nd3+ laser with amplifiers and on a dye laser.
