Abstract: An investigation was made of the response function, transfer function, and corresponding transmission band width of various types of fiber-optic waveguide, as a function of the waveguide length and the conditions under which radiation was coupled in. It was found that by studying fiber-optic waveguides in terms of their response and transfer functions, the fullest estimate can be made of their information properties.
