Investigation of leaky modes in anisotropic diffused waveguides

K. S. Buritskiĭ, E. M. Zolotov, M. Čada, V. A. Chernykh
Abstract: The WKB approximation was used to calculate coefficients of emission of leaky hybrid modes for real profiles of waveguides formed by titanium diffusion in LiNbO3 and LiTaO3. Allowance was made for the anisotropy of the structural and effective parameters of the waveguides. The dependence of the coefficient of emission of a leaky mode on its angle of propagation in a Ti-diffused LiNbO3 waveguide was determined experimentally.
