Use of the Stokes parameters in analysis of polarization of optical waves scattered by an atmospheric aerosol

Abstract: The polarization of light scattered by a polydisperse aerosol is described by analytic average Stokes parameters. The polarization characteristics obtained in this way are of considerable practical importance in studies of the propagation of laser radiation in the atmosphere.
