Collector probe measurements of the parameters of a laser plasma at long distances

Abstract: Investigations were made of the distributions of the electron and ion velocities using probe and transit-time collector methods. Experimental results were compared with a theoretical model of plasma expansion in a self-consistent electric field. It was found that at distances from the target exceeding the dimensions of the focusing region the electron and ion components interacted weakly with one another.
