Nonlinear optics

Nonlinear p-type surface polaritons at an interface between isotropic media

B. P. Dovgiĭ, V. L. Strizhevskiĭ
Abstract: An analytic solution is obtained of the problem of nonlinear p-type surface polaritons, which appear near an interface between isotropic media, one of which is linear and the other has a cubic polarization nonlinearity. Expressions are obtained for describing one-dimensional (along the normal to the plane interface) spatial evolution of the field amplitudes of steady-state nonlinear surface polaritons and also their energy characteristics. An analysis is made of the dispersion relationship for such polaritons and of the properties and conditions under which they exist.
