Abstract: A method for selection of longitudinal modes of a laser cavity is described. This method is based on modulation of the cavity length during a pump pulse. Simplicity and reliability are ensured by the absence of feedback. Construction is reported of a pulse-periodic Nd:YAG laser emitting single-frequency radiation in 100% of the pulses.
